Preview Roundups
April 05, 2014
Minnesota at Orlando 7:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Timberwolves are no longer in the postseason race but refuse to lay down over the final weeks of the season. The Timberwolves will attempt to run their winning streak to three straight when they visit the Orlando Magic on Saturday. Minnesota battled the Miami Heat through two overtimes before grabbing a 122-121 victory in the start of their two-game Florida road trip.
Chicago at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The Washington Wizards might get a look at their first-round opponent in the Eastern Conference playoffs when they host the Chicago Bulls on Saturday. The streaking Bulls, who have won four straight, are tied for third in the East with Toronto. If they finish ahead of the Raptors, they'll likely get a first-round date with the Wizards, who sit sixth but have designs on making up a 1 1/2-game gap on fifth-place Brooklyn.
Charlotte at Cleveland 7:30 PM ET
The Cleveland Cavaliers did not do themselves any favors by going into Atlanta and laying down on Friday. The Cavaliers will try to keep their shrinking postseason hopes alive when they return home to host the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday. Cleveland had a chance to draw within a game of the Hawks for the eighth and final playoff spot but instead fell behind by 16 points by the end of the first quarter and never challenged in a 117-98 loss.
Boston at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
Only two teams have lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in the past 10 weeks, and they'll square off Saturday when the Detroit Pistons host the Boston Celtics in a matchup of spiraling clubs. The Pistons allowed the 76ers to snap their record-tying 26-game skid a week ago and lost 116-104 at Brooklyn on Friday for their 10th loss in 12 games. The Celtics have been even worse, dropping their seventh straight contest with a 111-102 home loss to Philadelphia on Friday.
Brooklyn at Philadelphia 7:30 PM ET
With time running out in their quest to secure the Atlantic Division title - and with it, home-court advantage in at least the opening round of the Eastern Conference playoffs - the Brooklyn Nets face nothing but must-win games the rest of the way. To that end, they couldn't have asked for a better opponent Saturday as they visit the woeful Philadelphia 76ers. Brooklyn enters the weekend 2 1/2 games behind Toronto with just seven games remaining.
Toronto at Milwaukee 8:30 PM ET
The Toronto Raptors remain in the driver's seat for top spot in the Atlantic Division despite being without two members of their starting lineup. They'll hope to have point guard Kyle Lowry and forward Amir Johnson back in action Saturday night as they travel to Milwaukee for a date with the last-place Bucks. The Raptors remained 2 1/2 games clear of the Brooklyn Nets atop the division by fending off the Indiana Pacers 100-94 behind 24 points from Terrence Ross.
