Preview Roundups
March 09, 2015
Sacramento at Atlanta 7:30 PM ET
The Atlanta Hawks have dominated Sacramento in recent seasons and attempt to defeat the visiting Kings for the 13th consecutive time when the squads clash on Monday. Atlanta figures to take this contest seriously after resting starters Paul Millsap, Kyle Korver and DeMarre Carroll on Saturday and falling 92-84 to the lowly Philadelphia 76ers. The Hawks’ next victory will give them 50 wins for the first time since going 53-29 in 2009-10.
Boston at Miami 7:30 PM ET
The Miami Heat continue to hang around in the Eastern Conference playoff chase despite an inordinate amount of injuries and could have a makeshift lineup again Monday when the Boston Celtics visit. The Heat lost All Star Chris Bosh for the season while Goran Dragic (back), Luol Deng (thigh) and Hassan Whiteside (ankle) all missed the 114-109 overtime victory over Sacramento on Saturday. Each is questionable for the Celtics, who let a 20-point lead get away in a loss at Orlando on Sunday.
Memphis at Chicago 8:00 PM ET
Both Memphis and Chicago will be looking for a bounce-back win when they meet Monday in the Windy City. The Grizzlies opened a four-game road trip Saturday with a 95-89 loss at New Orleans, blowing an 18-point lead in the process. The setback has Memphis - which has split its last eight road games - clinging to a 1 1/2-game lead over Houston in the race for the second seed in the Western Conference with 20 games to go.
New Orleans at Milwaukee 8:00 PM ET
The New Orleans Pelicans continue their surge toward a playoff spot in the Western Conference when they hit the road against the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. The Pelicans certainly looked like a playoff contender while overcoming an 18-point deficit in a 95-89 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday, and Anthony Davis is having no trouble working his way back into form. The Bucks are aiming for a third straight home win.
New York at Denver 9:00 PM ET
The New York Knicks have the worst record in the NBA as they open up a five-game road trip against the Denver Nuggets on Monday. New York only has 12 victories and one of them came against the Nuggets on Nov. 16 when the Knicks posted a 109-93 victory. Denver also is experiencing a long season and recently fired second-year coach Brian Shaw and has gone 2-2 under interim coach Melvin Hunt.
Golden State at Phoenix 10:00 PM ET
If the Phoenix Suns expect to stay in contention for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, now is the time to make their move. The Suns open a stretch of nine of 10 at home when they host the West-leading Golden State Warriors on Monday. Phoenix will have to earn it with seven games against playoff contenders during that stretch, beginning with the Warriors and including the Eastern Conference-leading Atlanta Hawks this week.
Minnesota at L.A. Clippers 10:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Clippers look to record their 12th consecutive victory over the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves when the teams meet Monday. Los Angeles continued its dominance with a 110-105 win in Minnesota on March 2, and earlier this season the Clippers recorded a 26-point victory – their largest ever against the Timberwolves. Minnesota arrives on a high note, having posted a 121-113 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday.
