Preview Roundups
January 29, 2017
New York at Atlanta 3:00 PM ET
The New York Knicks are struggling as the losses mount and trade rumors swirl around Carmelo Anthony, so an injury to Derrick Rose is the last thing they needed heading into Sunday’s game at the Atlanta Hawks. New York won for only the fifth time in its past 19 games Friday, beating Charlotte 110-107 but losing Rose to a sprained left ankle in the third quarter.
Oklahoma City at Cleveland 3:30 PM ET
Slumping through a down period filled with turmoil, the Cleveland Cavaliers took advantage of the worst team in the NBA to feel good again. They will try to maintain those positive vibes when they host the Oklahoma City Thunder in a nationally-televised affair Sunday afternoon.
Houston at Indiana 6:00 PM ET
The Houston Rockets will again look to guard James Harden to carry them through the finale of a five-game road trip Sunday against the Indiana Pacers. The Rockets are 2-2 on the trip and just 4-6 in their last 10 games, but Harden mostly maintained his remarkable pace during the stretch and he took his game to another level Friday in Philadelphia.
Washington at New Orleans 6:00 PM ET
The New Orleans Pelicans knocked off two of the league’s best teams earlier in the week and host one of the hottest Sunday when the Washington Wizards pay a visit. The Pelicans beat defending NBA champion Cleveland by two points on Monday and posted 71 in the second half to defeat San Antonio on Friday, but lost to league-worst Brooklyn by 29 on Jan. 20.
Orlando at Toronto 6:00 PM ET
The Toronto Raptors snapped out of their downward spiral with a victory last time out and look to add another when they host the struggling Orlando Magic on Sunday night. Point guard Kyle Lowry, who was without his backcourt partner DeMar DeRozan (ankle) for the third straight contest, scored 32 points in Friday’s 102-86 victory over visiting Milwaukee to end a season-high five-game losing streak.
Philadelphia at Chicago 7:00 PM ET
The Chicago Bulls try to end a tumultuous homestand with a much-needed win when they host the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday. The Bulls are 0-2 on the homestand, but the losses have been the least of the issues for a team that has endured loads of in-fighting, with several players criticizing one another.
Dallas at San Antonio 7:00 PM ET
The San Antonio Spurs look to start another streak after a surprising loss when they return home to host the Lone Star State rival Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night. The Spurs got injured leading scorer Kawhi Leonard and point guard Tony Parker back in the lineup, but saw a five-game winning streak come to an end with a 119-103 loss at New Orleans on Friday.
Golden State at Portland 9:00 PM ET
Less than 24 hours after completing one of their most impressive performances at home, the Golden State Warriors hit the road Sunday to try to finish off a four-game season series sweep of the Portland Trail Blazers. The Warriors have won the first three meetings — and five straight overall — by an average of 25.3 points and were able to rest their starters down the stretch in a 144-98 rout of the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.
