Preview Roundups
January 21, 2017
Portland at Boston 5:00 PM ET
The Boston Celtics try to recover from a bad loss when they cap a three-game homestand against the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday. The Celtics had won three in a row and seven of eight entering a matchup with the reeling New York Knicks on Wednesday, but surprisingly wound up on the wrong end of a 117-106 score.
Washington at Detroit 6:00 PM ET
The Detroit Pistons resembled the team they want to be in Wednesday's 118-95 triumph over the Atlanta Hawks, but maintaining any sort of consistency has been a problem all season. The Pistons will try to put together back-to-back solid outings when they host the Washington Wizards on Saturday.
Brooklyn at Charlotte 7:00 PM ET
The Charlotte Hornets are suddenly unbeatable at the Spectrum Center and look to continue their home dominance while riding the momentum of their biggest victory of the season - literally and figuratively - when they host the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday. Brooklyn, though, is loaded with confidence after snapping an 11-game losing streak with an eye-popping 143-114 victory over the Pelicans in New Orleans on Friday, scoring the second-most points in a regulation game in team history.
Philadelphia at Atlanta 7:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia 76ers seek their first four-game winning streak in more than three years when they visit the surging Atlanta Hawks on Saturday. A 3-pointer by Robert Covington in the closing seconds lifted the 76ers to a dramatic 93-92 victory over Portland at home Friday night, their eighth victory in the last 10 games overall.
Phoenix at New York 7:30 PM ET
The New York Knicks can't seem to sustain any success and followed up an encouraging road win by falling at home on Thursday. The Knicks will try to come out of the two-game homestand even when they host the Phoenix Suns on Saturday.
Milwaukee at Miami 7:30 PM ET
The Milwaukee Bucks are celebrating their first All-Star starter in 31 years but are mired in a season-worst four-game losing streak. Small forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is the franchise's first All-Star Game starter since Sidney Moncrief in 1986 and he looks to help end the skid when the Bucks visit the Miami Heat on Saturday.
Houston at Memphis 8:00 PM ET
The Houston Rockets are suffering through their worst stretch of the season and it won’t get any easier as they open a five-game road trip against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night. The Rockets had not lost back-to-back games this season until last week and have dropped four of the last six overall after Friday’s 125-108 setback against red-hot Golden State.
San Antonio at Cleveland 8:30 PM ET
The possibility that one or two of the stars on either roster won't play shouldn't diminish the excitement too much when they San Antonio Spurs visit the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love is dealing with back spasms while Spurs center Pau Gasol will be sidelined after suffering a fractured finger on Thursday.
