Preview Roundups
January 11, 2015
Washington at Atlanta 3:00 PM ET
The Atlanta Hawks look to put some distance between themselves and the Washington Wizards when the teams square off in a Southeast Division showdown Sunday. The Hawks are the hottest team in the NBA, reeling off seven consecutive wins - including a 106-103 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Friday - to open up a three-game lead over the Wizards atop the standings. Atlanta has won 10 of its last 11 home games and hopes to beat Washington for the second straight time this season.
Miami at L.A. Clippers 3:30 PM ET
The Clippers wrap up a nine-game homestand — the longest in the NBA since the 2011-12 season — and hope to finish on a good note when they face the Miami Heat on Sunday afternoon. The Clippers have won six of eight on the homestand, which began with a Christmas night victory against the Golden State Warriors. The Heat come in riding a cooling trend, having lost five of their last six, most recently a 16-point defeat Thursday at the Portland Trail Blazers.
Phoenix at Memphis 6:00 PM ET
The stumbling Memphis Grizzlies welcomed back Zach Randolph against New Orleans on Friday and may have added another weapon to their roster by the time they host the Phoenix Suns on Sunday. The Grizzlies are on the verge of acquiring Jeff Green from Boston for Tayshaun Prince's $7.7 million expiring contract and a future first-rounder. Green is averaging 17.6 points this season and has shot 34 percent from the arc over his career.
Cleveland at Sacramento 9:00 PM ET
The Cleveland Cavaliers are still likely a few games from getting LeBron James back in the lineup and look to begin turning their fortunes around when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. The Cavaliers have dropped four straight and seven of their last eight games – 1-6 with James (knee, back) out -- after being thumped 112-94 at Golden State on Friday. Sacramento is trying to stay in the hunt for a playoff berth, winning two of four in January after a demoralizing 4-14 stretch.
Portland at L.A. Lakers 9:30 PM ET
The Portland Trail Blazers will attempt to defeat Los Angeles for the second in seven days when they visit the Lakers on Sunday. Portland posted a 98-94 home victory on Monday when point guard Damian Lillard poured in 39 points while Lakers guard Kobe Bryant was left at home to rest. Bryant missed Friday’s 101-84 victory over the Orlando Magic and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, and the decision about playing might be made shortly be tip-off.
