Preview Roundups
January 02, 2019
Dallas at Charlotte 7:00 PM ET
The Dallas Mavericks still can't find a way to win on the road, and the issue is sending them down the standings in the Western Conference. The Mavericks will try to snap a nine-game road losing streak when they continue a four-game trip by visiting the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.
Miami at Cleveland 7:00 PM ET
The Miami Heat finished up a disappointing three-game homestand with a 113-104 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday and will play two of the next three on the road, though all three are against teams with losing records. The Heat will try to take advantage of one such team when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.
Atlanta at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The Washington Wizards are insisting they can remain in the playoff race without five-time All-Star point guard John Wall. The Wizards look to post their second straight victory since learning Wall is done for the season when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.
New Orleans at Brooklyn 7:30 PM ET
The Brooklyn Nets dropped back-to-back games after taking nine of 10 and are trying to find the positives while dealing with a recent batch of injuries. The Nets will look for more key contributions up and down the roster when they open 2019 by hosting the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.
Minnesota at Boston 8:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Timberwolves are struggling to perform consistently at the defensive end, leading to losses in eight of the last 12 games. The Timberwolves will try to find a way to get key stops and close out on 3-point shooters when they finish out a three-game road trip by visiting the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.
Orlando at Chicago 8:00 PM ET
The Chicago Bulls look to defeat Orlando for the ninth time in the past 11 meetings when they host the Magic on Wednesday. Chicago has recorded six consecutive home victories against Orlando, including a 90-80 triumph on Dec. 21.
Detroit at Memphis 8:00 PM ET
The Memphis Grizzlies have not been below .500 since they opened the season 0-1, and they'll try to avoid sinking under the even mark when they open a two-game homestand against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday. The Grizzlies have lost nine of 12 following a 15-9 start after Monday's 113-101 loss at Houston, the second straight game in which the usually sound defensive club has allowed at least 112 points.
Philadelphia at Phoenix 9:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia 76ers look to complete a five-game road trip with a winning record when they visit the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. Philadelphia is 2-2 on the excursion after posting a 119-113 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday behind 28 points and 19 rebounds from star center Joel Embiid.
Oklahoma City at L.A. Lakers 10:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Lakers will be without star forward LeBron James for the fourth straight game when they host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday. Los Angeles is 1-2 without James, who injured his left groin in a Christmas Day rout of the Golden State Warriors.
