ST. LOUIS -- An overtime goal capped a big week for the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night.

Right winger Teem Pelkkinen's power-play goal with 18.8 seconds left in the overtime gave the Red Wings a 4-3 win over the St. Louis Blues and left them with a 3-0-1 record in the four games they have played in the past six days.

Two of the wins came in a 24-hour span as the Red Wings won 3-2 over the Los Angeles Kings on Friday night at home before flying to St. Louis for the game against the Blues.

"We played some really good hockey teams," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. "We want to measure ourselves against what we think are some of the best teams in the league and see how we stack up. So I thought we did a good job that way.

"This is obviously a real good hockey team and on the road it's an impressive win for us."

The winning goal came after Blues defenseman Colton Parayko was called for interference 3:04 into the overtime, putting an extra skater on the ice for the Red Wings.

The Blues, who had killed off their last 15 penalties dating to their last four games, almost got through the Red Wings' power play but couldn't clear the puck out of their zone after a faceoff, which led to Pulkkinen's winning goal.

"That's my game," Pulkkinen said. "I try to shoot it when I have a chance, so it was nice to see the puck go in."

Blues goalie Jake Allen said he thought the shot deflected off the stick of Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo, who was between Pulkkinen and the goal.

Allen thought the Blues were actually lucky to come away with one point, tying the score on right winger Vladimir Tarasenko's goal with 2:10 remaining in the third period to send the game to overtime.

"I don't think we played our best as a group, myself included," Allen said. "Vladi did his thing there and got us a point. I just don't think our execution was on par with our normal game. We mustered a point out of it which is very positive."

Blues coach Ken Hitchcock thought it was a case of the schedule catching up with his team. The Blues, who have lost four of their last six games, were playing their fourth game in a span of six nights.

"We've played the most games in the league," Hitchcock said. "It shows, and I think you see teams that have played a lot of games they are starting to have cracks in their games too. There are other teams in the same boat as us and you can see their play is not great either."

The Red Wings snapped a 2-2 tie midway through the second period on a goal from rookie left winger Dylan Larkin, extending his scoring streak to four consecutive games. A shot by center Henrik Zetterberg deflected off Larkin’s chest past Allen for his team-leading eighth goal of the year.

The 19-year-old Larkin became the first teenager to score in four consecutive games for the Red Wings since Steve Yzerman did it twice in the 1984-85 season.

"When you go to the net, good things happen and that's one of the things that we've talked lots about is more net presence," Blashill said. "Larkin, I thought, had a great game. He really probably could have had three. He's obviously done a real impressive job. We're going to continue to work on little details in his game, but he's got a great motor and he's extremely competitive."

Detroit also got a goal from center Paval Datsyuk, the 299th of his career but first of the season. He has 26 goals in his career in 66 games against the Blues.

NOTES: The game was the 700th in the NHL career of Blues LW Alexander Steen. ... The Red Wings placed C Landon Ferraro on waivers. He has missed the last seven games because of a knee injury and the Red Wings hope he will clear waivers so he can be re-assigned to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League. Ferraro was scoreless in 10 games this season. ... With the return of LW Steve Ott from an upper-body injury, the Blues sent LW Jeremy Welsh back to Chicago of the AHL. ... Rookie D Colton Parayko returned to the Blues' lineup after missing two games because of a lower-body injury. ... The Blues will play at Buffalo on Monday night while the Red Wings are off until Wednesday night, when they will host the Boston Bruins.
