Canucks 2, Kings 1 (SO): Chris Higgins scored the lone goal of the shootout in the third round as host Vancouver solidified its hold on second place in the Pacific Division.

Higgins lifted a backhander over Jonathan Quick before Eddie Lack denied Marian Gaborik as the Canucks moved four points clear of third-place Calgary. Daniel Sedin scored the tying goal in the third period on twin brother Henrik's 700th career assist while Lack made 36 saves to halt a two-start skid.

Dwight King scored the lone goal for the Kings, who are tied in points with Calgary and trail Winnipeg by one for the second wild card in the Western Conference. Quick turned aside 37 shots and kept the Canucks at bay in the bonus format before Higgins' backhander barely eluded him.

Vancouver drew even midway through the third period shortly after a power play expired. Captain Henrik Sedin sent a no-look backhand pass to Daniel, who one-timed a blast from the left faceoff circle that beat Quick high to the glove side for his 18th goal.

Jeff Carter set up the opening tally 73 seconds into the contest, busting down the right wing and around Vancouver defenseman Dan Hamhuis before centering a pass that King tapped in from the doorstep. The Canucks nearly tied it in the waning minutes of the second period, but blue-liner Yannick Weber's backhander hit the post after he had Quick down and out.
