Jets 2, Wild 0: Blake Wheeler scored a power-play goal and Ondrej Pavelec posted his third shutout of the season as visiting Winnipeg climbed within two points of Minnesota for the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference with three games remaining.

Drew Stafford also tallied for the Jets, who began their three-game road trip by leapfrogging Los Angeles for the second wild card. Pavelec turned aside 32 shots en route to his 14th career blanking as Winnipeg's victory officially eliminated both San Jose and Dallas from playoff contention.

Devan Dubnyk made 32 saves for the Wild, who were unable to clinch a postseason berth in their final home game of the regular season. The netminder made his 38th consecutive start overall and 37th for Minnesota, which concluded a 2-2-1 homestand and finished 22-13-6 at Xcel Energy Center.

Winnipeg cashed in on an early power-play opportunity to take the lead. Captain Andrew Ladd dished the puck from the right corner to Wheeler, whose cross-slot pass attempt from low in the right faceoff circle caromed off the left skate of Wild defenseman Marco Scandella and past Dubnyk 4:12 into the contest.

Stafford doubled the lead with 6:50 left in the second period, beating Dubnyk from the left hash marks after the netminder denied blue-liner Tyler Myers' blast from the top of the right circle. Minnesota registered 11 shots in the third but was unable to solve Pavelec.
