Stars 4, Predators 3 (OT): Cody Eakin scored on a penalty shot at 4:04 of overtime as visiting Dallas kept alive its faint playoff hopes.

Eakin was awarded the penalty shot when Nashville defenseman Mattias Ekholm swatted his stick loose from behind during a breakaway, and he beat Pekka Rinne with a wrist shot to keep the Stars six points behind Los Angeles for the second wild card in the Western Conference with three games to play. Travis Moen and Colton Sceviour each recorded a goal and an assist as Dallas beat the Predators for the first time in four meetings this season.

Tyler Seguin extended his goal-scoring streak to four games and Jhonas Enroth turned aside 33 shots to give the Stars their first win (1-14-0) in a game started by their backup netminder this season. Rookie Filip Forsberg and former Star James Neal each scored and set up a tally for the Predators, who moved one point ahead of St. Louis for first place in the Central Division.

Defenseman Ryan Ellis also tallied and Rinne finished with 20 saves for Nashville, which has played one more game than the Blues. Forsberg staked the Predators to the early lead midway through the first period before Moen converted a rebound in the second.

Seguin broke the 1-1 deadlock with a blast from the top of the left faceoff circle during a power play 3:23 into the third and Sceviour padded the lead, scoring off a scramble in front four minutes later. Forsberg set up Ellis in the slot at 10:46 before Neal, back in the lineup after a nine-game absence, netted the tying goal with a one-timer from the right circle off a feed from Mike Ribeiro with 1:55 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ribeiro collected his 500th career assist on Neal's tally. ... Seguin matched his career high with his 37th goal in his 69th game - 11 fewer contests than it took him to reach that number last season. ... Forsberg's goal was his 60th point of the season, giving Nashville a pair of 60-point scorers (Ribeiro) for the first time since the 2007-08 season. ... Predators D Shea Weber and C Matt Cullen returned to the lineup along with Neal, but C Mike Santorelli sat out due to illness. ... Stars D Jordie Benn was back after missing three games.
