Senators 4, Capitals 3 (OT): Kyle Turris scored on a breakaway at 3:14 of overtime as host Ottawa prevailed after blowing a three-goal lead to keep alive its playoff hopes.

Clarke MacArthur and Mika Zibanejad scored power-play goals 53 seconds apart midway through the first period and added an assist apiece while rookie Mark Stone also tallied to keep the Senators within three points of the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Andrew Hammond turned aside 29 shots to improve to 17-1-1 for Ottawa, which has won three in a row.

Troy Brouwer scored one goal and set up another while Marcus Johansson and defenseman Mike Green also tallied for Washington, which had its three-game winning streak halted and fell one point behind the New York Islanders for second place in the Metropolitan Division. Blue-liner John Carlson notched two assists and Braden Holtby made 24 saves for the Capitals, who could have clinched a playoff spot with a regulation win.

MacArthur's long backhand pass set up the opening tally as Stone skated in and beat Holtby top shelf from the right faceoff circle 3:21 into the contest. MacArthur scored the first of two 5-on-3 tallies at 9:03, ripping a wrist shot over the shoulder of Holtby for a 2-0 advantage.

Zibanejad padded the lead less than a minute later, burying a one-timer from the left dot to make it 3-0, but the Capitals answered at the 6 1/2-minute mark of the second period on Johansson's turnaround shot from the right dot that beat Hammond to the glove side. Green cut the deficit to one at 7:18 of the third, converting a shot from the slot, and Brouwer netted the equalizer from the left hash marks with 4:10 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Senators captain Erik Karlsson, who set up two goals, became the 10th player in franchise history to notch 300 points with an assist on MacArthur's tally. ... Johansson's 19th goal pushed his point total to 45, one shy of his career high established in 2011-12. ... Stone extended his point streak to five games with his 21st tally for Ottawa, which scored multiple power-play goals for the first time since Feb. 28.
