Senators 2, Red Wings 1 (SO): Rookie Mark Stone scored the decisive goal in the fourth round of the shootout as visiting Ottawa stayed in playoff contention by snapping its three-game losing streak.

Clarke MacArthur netted the tying goal with 4:02 left in regulation while Mika Zibanejad and Kyle Turris also converted in the bonus format as the Senators remained three points behind Boston for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference with one game in hand. Andrew Hammond improved to 15-1-1, making 16 saves before denying the Red Wings' final two attempts in the shootout.

Gustav Nyquist scored in regulation and led off the shootout with a tally for Detroit, which suffered its fourth defeat in five games (1-2-2) and had its lead over Boston for third place in the Atlantic Division cut to two points. Petr Mrazek turned aside 33 shots in his third straight start, nearly registering his second shutout in five days.

Mrazek extended his right pad to rob Stone from the doorstep early in the first period before Detroit broke the scoreless deadlock at 5:43 of the second. Justin Abdelkader left a drop pass for Nyquist, who beat Hammond with a wrist shot from the top of the right faceoff circle.

Ottawa, which held a 25-9 advantage in shots through two periods, finally notched the equalizer late in the third. Off a faceoff, MacArthur unloaded a straight-on slap shot from the point that Mrazek got a piece of but could not stop.
