Jets 2, Blues 1 (SO): Captain Andrew Ladd scored the decisive goal in the third round of the shootout as host Winnipeg rallied to halt its seven-game slide against St. Louis.

T.J. Oshie gave the Blues the edge in the first round of the bonus format, beating Ondrej Pavelec between the pads, but Drew Stafford answered with an identical goal to begin the second. Ladd ripped the puck past Brian Elliott high on the glove side after Vladimir Tarasenko failed on St. Louis' second attempt, and Pavelec clinched the win with a right pad save on Alex Steen.

Stafford scored in regulation and Pavelec made 32 saves for the Jets, who climbed within one point of Minnesota for the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference with their first victory over St. Louis in four meetings this season. Captain David Backes tallied and Elliott stopped 33 shots for the Blues, who fell to 2-1-0 on their six-game road trip but moved two points ahead of second-place Nashville in the Central Division.

After a scoreless first period, St. Louis snapped the deadlock just over eight minutes into the second. Paul Stastny made a cross-slot pass to Backes, who beat Pavelec from the right faceoff circle three seconds after a cross-checking penalty on Winnipeg's Adam Lowry expired.

Elliott was denied his third shutout in four games as Winnipeg pulled even with 6:44 remaining in the third. Stafford crossed the blue line and skated into the left circle before ripping a backhander past the netminder to end St. Louis' road shutout streak at 190 minutes, 17 seconds.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Stafford's third-period goal was the first allowed by St. Louis in its last 179:32. ... Winnipeg improved to 10-2-2 in its last 14 games at MTS Centre. ... The Blues climbed within one point of Anaheim and Montreal (97) in the race for the Presidents' Trophy.
