Sabres 2, Bruins 1 (SO): Tyler Ennis scored the lone goal in the first round of the shootout as visiting Buffalo snapped a seven-game losing streak.

Ennis skated in and pulled out Niklas Svedberg before lifting a forehand over the sprawled netminder. That was enough for Anders Lindback, who capped a brilliant 44-save performance by denying all three attempts in the bonus format to earn his first victory as a starter this season (1-10-2).

Defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen netted the tying goal on the power play early in the third period as the league-worst Sabres posted only their eighth road win. Buffalo also dealt a costly loss to Boston, which had its lead cut to four points over Ottawa for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference.

Loui Eriksson scored midway into the opening period for the Bruins, who have dropped two in a row and fell to 1-8 in their last nine shootouts. Svedberg, who won both his previous career starts versus Buffalo, turned aside 23 shots in the loss.

A fortunate bounce led to the opening goal as defenseman Adam McQuaid's shot caromed off the skate of Buffalo's Tim Schaller to the back boards and ricocheted to Eriksson, who stuffed it home at the post. The Sabres tied it 83 seconds into the third period as Ristolainen's straight-on blast sailed in after clipping the skate of Bruins defenseman Matt Bartkowski

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bruins No. 1 G Tuukka Rask did not dress for the contest due to "general soreness." Ristolainen halted a 20-game goalless drought dating to Jan. 29 while LW Johan Larsson collected an assist for his sixth point in five games. ...
