Senators 2, Flyers 1 (SO): Bobby Ryan scored the lone goal in the third round of the shootout as host Ottawa continued its playoff drive with its 11th victory in 13 games.

Ryan beat Ray Emery with a forehand before rookie sensation Andrew Hammond clinched the victory by flashing his right pad to deny Philadelphia captain Claude Giroux as the Senators improved to 11-1-1 and leapfrogged Florida for ninth place in the Eastern Conference. Hammond (27 saves) boosted his record to 10-0-1 and became the second netminder in league history to yield two goals or fewer in his first 11 starts.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored in regulation for Ottawa, which moved five points behind Boston. Jakub Voracek had the lone goal and Emery also made 27 saves for the Flyers, who fell for the fifth time in six games.

Following a scoreless opening 20 minutes, Pageau staked Ottawa to the early lead when he batted a rebound of defenseman Mark Borowiecki's blast out of mid-air at 5:19 of the second. Voracek forged a 1-1 tie seven minutes later with a one-timer from behind the left circle that sailed in off the glove of Hammond.

Emery, in his first appearance since Feb. 19, kept the score tied by turning away Kyle Turris on the doorstep midway through the third while Hammond stopped Wayne Simmonds in front on a power play with just over six minutes to play. Milan Michalek almost won it in the final seconds of regulation for Ottawa but his shot rang off the far post.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hammond is one game shy of matching the NHL record set by Boston's Frank Brimsek in 1938-39, who started his career by allowing two goals or fewer in his first 12 starts. ... Voracek, who had tallied only once in the previous 12 games, scored his first even-strength goal since Dec. 21. ... Pageau halted an 11-game goal drought with his fourth of the season - all coming at the Canadian Tire Centre. ... Flyers D Michael Del Zotto (upper body) sat out his fifth consecutive game.
