Blues 1, Flyers 0 (SO): Brian Elliott turned aside all 28 shots he faced for his 29th career shutout - and franchise high-tying 20th - as host St. Louis presented Ken Hitchcock with his 700th coaching victory.

T.J. Oshie wristed a shot over Steve Mason's blocker in the first round while Vladimir Tarasenko's sweeping attempt sailed by the netminder in the second. Elliott, who recorded his fourth shutout of the season and tied Jaroslav Halak for the franchise mark, denied Jakub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds to seal the win as the Blues improved to 9-3 in the bonus format.

St. Louis, which pulled even in points with Nashville atop the Central Division with two games in hand, improved to 5-1-1 in its last seven contests and avenged a 3-1 setback to Philadelphia last Thursday. Jaden Schwartz was unable to convert on any of his team-high six shots and saw his four-game point streak come to a halt.

Mason suffered yet another hard-luck loss despite turning aside 35 shots for the Flyers, who have dropped four in a row since defeating St. Louis. Philadelphia failed on all four power-play opportunities to limp to a 1-for-19 mark in the past seven games.

The Flyers went 0-for-3 with the man advantage in the first period while the Blues failed to dent the scoresheet despite holding a 17-9 edge in shots in the third. Mason, who recorded his 26th career shutout and third of the season, was dominant in the latter session - highlighted by a sterling save on Jori Lehtera with 9:30 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hitchcock joined Scotty Bowman, Al Arbour and Joel Quenneville as the only coaches to have reached the 700-win plateau. ... Schwartz collected three goals and three assists during his point streak ... Former Flyers and Blues D Chris Pronger was in attendance at Scottrade Center.
