Senators 5, Flames 4 (SO): Captain Erik Karlsson scored the decisive goal in the sixth round of the shootout as host Ottawa rebounded after squandering a four-goal lead in the third period to improve to 8-0-1 in its last nine contests.

Kyle Turris' wrist shot in the third round extended the bonus format before teammate Milan Michalek and Jiri Hudler each converted in the fifth. Karlsson celebrated his bobblehead night by wristing a shot over the glove of Jonas Hiller (19 saves) before Craig Anderson denied rookie Josh Jooris to seal the win.

Rookie Mike Hoffman scored his team-leading 24th goal while Michalek, Alex Chiasson and defenseman Mark Borowiecki also tallied for the Senators, who remained five points behind Boston in the race for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Anderson finished with 42 saves in his first start since suffering a hand injury on Jan. 21.

Defenseman Kris Russell scored his second goal of the contest with 2:18 remaining in the third to forge a 4-4 tie. Joe Colborne, Russell and Mikael Backlund tallied in a 5 1/2-minute stretch earlier in the period for Calgary, which had its three-game winning streak halted and finished its season-high seven-game road trip with a 4-2-1 record.

Hoffman's wrist shot from the right faceoff circle at 7:10 of the second period gave Ottawa a 4-0 lead and ended the evening for Karri Ramo, who faced 23 shots. Colborne's blast from the point at 6:56 of the third got the Flames on the board, Russell scored during a power play and Backlund's sharp-angle shot from along the end line with 7:33 remaining trimmed the deficit to one before Russell's shot from the slot caromed off the right post and into the net.
