Blackhawks 2, Oilers 1 (SO): Antoine Vermette scored in the third round of the shootout and Corey Crawford denied all three attempts to follow a 46-save performance as host Chicago skated to its fourth win in five games.

Crawford stopped Derek Roy, Jordan Eberle and Teddy Purcell in the bonus format to set the stage for Vermette. Playing in his second game since being acquired from Arizona, Vermette skated in and backhanded the puck between the pads of Ben Scrivens as the Blackhawks improved to 9-3 in shootouts this season.

Defenseman Brent Seabrook scored his first goal in 29 contests for Chicago, which moved within two points of second-place St. Louis in the Central Division. Captain Jonathan Toews notched an assist to extend his point streak in the series versus Edmonton to five games.

Roy scored his first goal in eight contests for the Oilers, who have mustered seven goals while losing five of their last six. Nail Yakupov notched the lone assist on Roy's seventh goal of the season and Scrivens turned aside 38 shots.

Yakupov stripped Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith of the puck behind the end line and set up Roy, whose turnaround shot from the slot with 4:45 remaining in the first period opened the scoring. Scrivens denied Patrick Sharp on a breakaway midway into the second to preserve the slim advantage until Seabrook's one-timer from the point with 6:02 left in the third forged a tie.
