Flames 5, Red Wings 2: Jiri Hudler registered his third two-goal performance of the season as visiting Calgary scored five unanswered tallies to overcome a two-goal deficit.

Sean Monahan recorded a goal and an assist while Matt Stajan and Mason Raymond also scored for the Flames, who improved to 4-2-0 on their seven-game road trip. Defenseman Dennis Wideman notched two assists and Jonas Hiller made 33 saves as Calgary won its third straight to pull even with Vancouver for second place in the Pacific Division.

Justin Abdelkader posted his second two-goal effort of the campaign for the Red Wings, who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Captain Henrik Zetterberg and Erik Cole each collected two assists while Jimmy Howard turned aside 19 shots as Detroit recorded only five blocked shots to Calgary's 21.

Abdelkader gave Detroit a 2-0 lead before the halfway mark of the first period, beating Hiller to the glove side on a breakaway at 3:05 before converting a feed from Zetterberg while on the doorstep during a power play at 8:12. Monahan began Calgary's comeback with his own man-advantage goal 2:15 later, grabbing the rebound of defenseman Kris Russell's blast in the right faceoff circle and cutting across the slot to draw Howard out of the crease before firing the puck past a pair of defenders.

Stajan forged a tie 6:03 into the middle session, ripping a shot from the left circle off the right post and in, and Hudler wired the puck inside the left post from the right circle with 6:50 left to put the Flames in front. Raymond created breathing room 1:50 into the third as Howard only managed to get a piece of his shot from the left circle, and Hudler sealed the win with an empty-net goal.
