Senators 3, Jets 1: Andrew Hammond continued to rob the opposition, finishing with 35 saves as Ottawa wrapped up its five-game road trip with a victory over Winnipeg.
Kyle Turris recorded a goal and an assist while Bobby Ryan and Erik Condra also scored for the Senators, who finished their trek with a 4-0-1 record. Hammond has started seven straight games for Ottawa, winning six of those decisions.
Michael Frolik netted the lone tally for the Jets, who saw their four-game point streak come to an end. Rookie Michael Hutchinson allowed three goals on 17 shots before being replaced by Ondrej Pavelec, who made three saves.
Turris snapped a shot past Hutchinson’s blocker on a rush 4:59 into the contest. Hammond stopped 15 shots in the opening 20 minutes, including an amazing pad save on Winnipeg captain Andrew Ladd to keep the Jets off the scoresheet.
Ryan one-timed a pass from Mika Zibanejad past Hutchinson during a power play 9:07 into the second period and Condra scored 2:47 later to chase the netminder. Frolik tapped home a cross-crease feed from defenseman Tyler Myers at 5:46 of the third to spoil Hammond’s shutout bid.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Jets D Dustin Byfuglien left the game after two periods with an upper-body injury. … The Senators are 5-0-0 at Winnipeg since the Jets franchise moved from Atlanta. … Senators D Jared Cowen missed the game due to an illness.
