Blue Jackets 2, Penguins 1: Brandon Dubinsky extended his goal-scoring streak to four games with a short-handed tally with 2:17 to play in the third period as visiting Columbus handed Pittsburgh its third straight defeat.

Scott Hartnell scored in the first period as the Blue Jackets beat the Penguins for the second time in as many meetings this season. Defenseman Fedor Tyutin notched a pair of assists and Curtis McElhinney turned aside 29 shots to win his third straight start.

Evgeni Malkin netted the lone goal for Pittsburgh, which has scored only three times during the three-game skid to fall to 7-11-4 against Metropolitan Division rivals. Marc-Andre Fleury dropped his third in a row despite making 28 saves.

The Penguins' inability to clear the puck led to the opening goal as Alexander Wennberg gained control at the top of the left faceoff circle and sent a pass to Hartnell, who spun in front of the net and quickly went to his forehand to beat Fleury with 2:17 left in the first period. Malkin tied it nine minutes into the second, burying a rebound after defenseman Paul Martin broke down the right side and slid a soft shot on net.

McElhinney made a pair of spectacular glove saves in the middle session, reaching out to snag Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby's rebound attempt on the doorstep before snatching defenseman Kris Letang's bullet late in the period. Columbus failed to convert on a 5-on-3 that lasted 1:38 midway through the third but capitalized with Pittsburgh on the man advantage as Dubinsky swept home the rebound of Matt Calvert's shot.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pittsburgh failed on both power-play chances to fall to 0-for-20 over its last nine games. ... Hartnell extended his point streak to eight games and boosted his career totals versus Pittsburgh to 13 goals and 32 points in 47 contests. ...
