Sabres 3, Flyers 2 (SO): Brian Flynn scored the decisive goal in the fourth round of the shootout and Michal Neuvirth recorded his first win in over three months as visiting Buffalo snapped its five-game losing streak against Philadelphia.

Flyers All-Star forward Jakub Voracek and Sabres captain Brian Gionta each scored in the first round of the bonus format before Ray Emery made a sprawling save on Tyler Ennis in the third to extend the contest. Sean Couturier was denied by Neuvirth, and Flynn made a nifty move by shifting from backhand to forehand before tucking the puck inside the right post as Buffalo recorded its 17th win - with seven coming via the shootout.

Gionta scored to record his 500th career point and Nicolas Deslauriers also tallied for the Sabres, who snapped their four-game overall skid (0-3-1) and posted just their fourth victory in 27 games (4-21-2). Torrey Mitchell notched his 100th career assist and Neuvirth made 36 saves in his first win since topping Toronto on Nov. 15.

Voracek scored on the power play and Ryan White netted his first goal to extend his point streak to three games for the Flyers, who fell to 2-7 in shootouts. Wayne Simmonds notched an assist to extend his point streak to a career high-tying six games and Emery turned aside 30 shots.

Deslauriers got just enough on his shot from the doorstep to send a fluttering puck past Emery 4:41 into the first period before White converted from just to the right of the net less than three minutes later. Gionta scored on a rebound just 38 seconds into the second period to give Buffalo a 2-1 lead, but Voracek swatted home a loose puck from the right doorstep at 8:45 to forge a tie.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Former captain Eric Desjardins was inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame prior to the contest. Desjardins played 738 games during his 11 seasons with the team, ranking eighth overall and third among defensemen in franchise history. ... C Zemgus Girgensons appeared to give Buffalo a 3-2 lead with 5:11 remaining in the third period, but officials overturned the initial call after deeming that the Latvian used his hand to swat the puck into the net. ... Simmonds has collected four goals and as many assists during his point streak. ... Deslauriers' goal was his first since Dec. 27.
