Oilers 4, Bruins 3 (SO): Defenseman Martin Marincin scored the lone goal of the shootout in the 12th round and Ben Scrivens made 38 saves as host Edmonton snapped its 13-game winless streak versus Boston.

Oilers blue-liner Justin Schultz hit the crossbar in the 10th round and Bruins forward Chris Kelly responded by doing the same to begin the 11th. Boston captain Zdeno Chara's blast was denied by the right pad of Scrivens in the 12th before Marincin skated in and wristed a shot between the pads of Tuukka Rask to end the marathon.

Teddy Purcell collected a goal and an assist while Nail Yakupov added his third tally in two contests for Edmonton, which posted its first victory over the Bruins since Oct. 17, 2000. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins netted his team-leading 16th goal and Jordan Eberle notched two assists.

Reilly Smith and rookie David Pastrnak scored 1:35 apart in the second period for Boston, which has dropped five straight (0-3-2) and resides three points ahead of Florida for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Loui Eriksson scored a power-play goal, defenseman Dougie Hamilton recorded two assists and Rask turned aside 27 shots.

Purcell scored for the first time in nearly one month as his wrist shot from the high slot during a power play beat Rask at the nine-minute mark of the second period to give Edmonton a 3-1 lead. Smith tapped home the rebound of Brad Marchand's shot from the point with 5:43 left in the session and Pastrnak forged a tie by tipping Chara's blast from just inside the blue line.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Yakupov has collected four goals and three assists during his six-game point streak. ... Edmonton D Jeff Petry (ribs) and C Anton Lander (shoulder) both exited the contest in the second period and did not return. ... Oilers captain Andrew Ference logged 15:53 of ice time in his first contest versus his former team. Ference, who played with Boston from 2007-13, sat out Edmonton's 5-2 setback on Nov. 6 while serving the middle contest of a three-game suspension for an illegal hit to the head.
