Lightning 5, Sharks 2: Captain Steven Stamkos recorded his 30th goal of the season and set up a tally as Tampa Bay snapped its five-game losing streak in San Jose.

Ryan Callahan matched Stamkos with a goal and an assist while Alex Killorn, Cedric Paquette and Ondrej Palat also tallied for the Lightning, who won for the first time in seven overall meetings with the Sharks. Valtteri Filppula contributed two assists and Ben Bishop turned aside 33 shots for his 28th victory.

Defenseman Brent Burns scored for the fourth time in four games and Logan Couture netted his 21st for San Jose, which fell to 0-3-2 in its last five at home. Antti Niemi made 28 saves in dropping to 1-3-1 in his last five contests.

Stamkos hammered a shot from the top of the slot during a delayed penalty that beat a screened Niemi with 15.3 seconds left in the first period to open the scoring. Callahan’s shot from the right faceoff dot, after a cross-ice pass from Stamkos, was deflected over Niemi’s right shoulder by Killorn 7:12 into the second for a 2-0 lead.

Couture scored from the slot with 9:33 left in the middle session, but Palat responded from the right circle 10 seconds into the third. Burns deflected Patrick Marleau’s shot during a power play with 8:22 remaining, but Paquette converted a drop pass by Filppula from the right circle with 3:41 to go and Callahan sealed it with an empty-netter.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Stamkos reached 30 goals for the fourth time in his career and first since 2011-12, when he scored 60. … San Jose D Marc-Edouard Vlasic returned to the lineup after missing four games with an upper-body injury and was minus-2 in 20:27 of ice time. … The Lightning had not won in San Jose since posting a 4-1 victory on March 24, 2003.
