Stars 2, Panthers 0: Kari Lehtonen stopped 37 shots for his fourth shutout of the season as host Dallas defeated Florida but lost three forwards to injury.

Lehtonen's 31st career shutout was overshadowed by the loss of superstar forward Tyler Seguin, who was the victim of a low hit by the Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov and appeared to suffer a leg injury. Forward Ales Hemsky also left with a lower-body injury, while forward Patrick Eaves took a slap shot to the head from teammate John Klingberg and was helped off the ice.

Captain Jamie Benn scored a short-handed goal and Jason Spezza also tallied for Dallas, which has won three in a row. Al Montoya made 26 saves in defeat as the Panthers fell for the third time in four games.

Benn opened the scoring 9:27 into the game, less than a minute after Eaves drew a double-minor for high sticking Shawn Thornton. Following a turnover at the Dallas blue-line, Vernon Fiddler chased down a loose puck deep in Florida territory before shoveling a pass to a wide-open Benn, who fired a wrist shot past Montoya.

Spezza made it 2-0 with 2:51 remaining in the opening period, gathering the puck just inside the Florida zone before skating into the high slot, spinning around to lose a Panthers defender and whipping a low shot past a fooled Montoya. Lehtonen took over from there, stopping all 17 shots he faced in a frenetic third period to preserve the win.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Dallas G Jhonas Enroth, acquired from the Buffalo Sabres in a Wednesday trade, was dressed as the backup. ... The home team has won just two of the last eight matchups. ... Benn has three goals in two games since going scoreless in five straight.
