Rangers 6, Avalanche 3: Kevin Hayes registered his first career multi-point performance with a goal and two assists while Rick Nash recorded his league-leading 34th tally as visiting New York posted its fifth win in seven games.

Carl Hagelin snapped a third-period tie, Mats Zuccarello extended his point streak to seven games with a goal, captain Ryan McDonagh notched a tally and an assist and fellow defenseman Dan Boyle also scored for the Rangers, who squandered a two-goal lead in the final session for the second straight contest but recovered to improve to 2-0-0 on their four-game road trip. Nash added an assist and Cam Talbot turned aside 26 shots to raise his record to 3-1-1 while filling in for the injured Henrik Lundqvist.

Jarome Iginla recorded a goal and an assist, blue-liner Jan Hejda ended an 88-game goal-scoring drought and captain Gabriel Landeskog also scored for the Avalanche, whose losing streak reached four games. Semyon Varlamov finished with 25 saves for Colorado, which registered the first 13 shots of the third period and posted a 16-8 advantage in the session.

New York grabbed the lead with 3 1/2 minutes remaining in the first period as Hayes made a perfect lead pass to Boyle, who beat Varlamov with a backhander on a short breakaway. Hayes doubled the lead 1:47 into the second, skating up the middle of the ice from his own zone and around defenseman John Mitchell in the right faceoff circle before cutting to the net and slipping the puck past Varlamov.

Landeskog and Zuccarello traded goals later in the session before Iginla buried a rebound on the doorstep at 6:43 of the third to get Colorado within 3-2. Hejda forged a tie at 10:44, when he beat Talbot from the left hash marks after his first shot was blocked, but Hagelin converted a feed from Hayes while in the low slot 1:18 later and Nash added insurance with 4:18 to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Iginla's goal was the 577th of his career, tying him with Mark Recchi for 19th place on the all-time list. It also was his 1,203rd point, moving him within two of Vincent Damphousse for 45th in NHL history. ... Zuccarello has collected four goals and five assists during his point streak. ... New York's Alain Vigneault notched the 499th victory of his NHL coaching career, drawing him even with Terry Murray for 21st all-time.
