Penguins 5, Senators 4 (SO): David Perron scored the lone goal of the shootout as visiting Pittsburgh recovered from squandering a three-goal lead in the third period to post its fourth win in five games.

Perron beat Robin Lehner to the glove side in the first round of the bonus format and Thomas Greiss (29 saves) denied Kyle Turris and Mika Zibanejad to clinch the victory. Captain Sidney Crosby recorded his fifth two-goal performance of the season, defenseman Kris Letang notched a tally and an assist and Evgeni Malkin also scored for the Penguins, who improved to 2-0-0 in the three-game season series.

Turris netted a goal and set up another while Zibanejad, Mark Stone and rookie Mike Hoffman also tallied for the Senators, who scored four times in the third period but ultimately dropped the opener of their five-game homestand. Bobby Ryan and captain Erik Karlsson collected two assists apiece and Lehner turned aside 25 shots.

Pittsburgh got on the board before some fans took their seats as Letang received a pass from Beau Bennett high along the left-wing boards and carried the puck down the wing and around the net before burying a backhander near the right post 61 seconds into the contest. Crosby doubled the lead midway through the opening period with a blast from the left faceoff circle that beat Lehner to the glove side and Malkin fired the puck past the goaltender from the left circle with 6:08 left in the second to make it 3-0.

Ottawa began its comeback during a power play at 5:09 of the third, when Ryan dished the puck from the left circle to Zibanejad, who dragged it on his backhand while spinning around and slipped it past Greiss. Hoffman buried a return pass from the right circle less than four minutes later and, after Crosby poked in a rebound with 5:07 remaining, Stone and Turris scored 13 seconds apart to knot the contest.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ryan, who returned after a one-game absence due to muscle cramps, was awarded a penalty shot with 8:33 left in the second period after being tripped up from behind by Letang on a breakaway but was denied by the left pad of Greiss. ... Malkin's goal was his 13th in his last 15 games against Ottawa. ... Turris' tally was just his second in 15 contests.
