Canucks 5, Penguins 0: Ryan Miller turned aside 31 shots for his 35th career shutout and Daniel Sedin scored his franchise-best 115th power-play goal as host Vancouver blanked Pittsburgh for the second time this season.

Alex Burrows collected a power-play goal and an assist while rookie Bo Horvat, Shawn Matthias and Zack Kassian also tallied for the Canucks, who saw Eddie Lack make 22 saves in a 3-0 victory over the Penguins on Dec. 4. All-Star Radim Vrbata notched two assists to eclipse the 500-point plateau in his career as Vancouver completed a six-game homestand with a 3-3-0 record.

Miller stopped 14 shots in the third period to preserve his career high-tying sixth shutout of the season. Thomas Greiss finished with 22 saves for Pittsburgh, which opened its three-game road trip with shutout victories over Edmonton and Calgary before being blanked for the sixth time this season.

The Canucks provided Miller with all the support he needed when Vrbata unleashed a one-timer from the left faceoff circle that Burrows deflected past Greiss 7:13 into the first period. Horvat doubled the advantage 3 1/2 minutes later, forcing a turnover at the blue line before swatting home a tipped pass from Derek Dorsett at the right doorstep.

After the Penguins had an apparent goal disallowed early in the second, Matthias converted a 2-on-1 rush with 4:58 left in the period to give Vancouver a 3-0 lead. Kassian scored two minutes later for his first goal since Oct. 21 and Sedin tallied with the man advantage early in the third to surpass Markus Naslund for the top spot in franchise history and pull even with Trevor Linden for second in all-time tallies for the Canucks with 318.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pittsburgh nearly scored at 4:29 of the second period as D Derrick Pouliot's shot from the point caromed off both the post and Miller, but the net came off its moorings prior to puck crossing the goal line. Officials reviewed the play and cited Rule 78.5 (x), which states "Apparent goals shall be disallowed by the referee when the net becomes displaced accidentally. The goal frame is considered to be displaced if either or both goal pegs are no longer in their respective holes in the ice, or the net has come completely off one or both pegs, prior to or as the puck enters the net." ... Vrbata has collected two goals and four assists during his five-game point streak. ... Vancouver's Adam Clendening was inserted into the lineup in place of fellow D Chris Tanev, who missed his second straight contest with an undisclosed injury.
