Wild 1, Avalanche 0: Devan Dubynk registered his second straight shutout and third in four starts as host Minnesota extended its winning streak to a season-high five games.

Charlie Coyle provided Dubnyk with the only offensive support he needed, scoring a first-period goal in the Wild's third consecutive shutout victory over Central Division-rival Colorado this season. Dubnyk turned aside 18 shots to post his fifth blanking of the season and fourth in nine starts since being acquired from Arizona.

Semyon Varlamov made 28 saves in suffering his second hard-luck loss in a row. Varlamov allowed one goal in a 3-0 setback to Detroit on Thursday, with the final two tallies being scored into an empty net.

Dubnyk had faced only 12 shots with six minutes left in the third period but came up big with five saves during a power play for the Avalanche to preserve his 13th career shutout. Defenseman Jonas Brodin swept a puck out of the crease as Colorado failed on both of its chances with the man advantage to drop to 0-for-24 over its last eight games.

The Wild swarmed the Avalanche from the outset and had a 13-1 advantage in shots when Coyle scored the lone goal of the game at 11:21 of the first period. Defenseman Marco Scandella unleashed a blast from the left point that Coyle deftly tipped down and past Varlamov for his seventh tally.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Wild, who blanked Colorado in their first two games of the season by a combined 8-0 margin, had not shut out an opponent three straight times since accomplishing the feat against Edmonton over a span of two campaigns (2006-08). ... Avalanche D Tyson Barrie sat out his second straight game due to an ailing hip. ... Scandella picked up an assist for the second consecutive contest after being held off the scoresheet in his previous 10 games.
