Blue Jackets 4, Senators 1: All-Star Nick Foligno scored less than nine minutes into the third period against his former team as visiting Columbus salvaged the finale of its three-game season series versus Ottawa.

Scott Hartnell and Cam Atkinson each collected a goal and an assist while Mark Letestu also tallied for the Blue Jackets, who snapped their three-game winless streak against the Senators. Curtis McElhinney finished with 34 saves to improve to 1-3-0 in five career starts versus Ottawa.

Erik Condra scored the lone goal for the Senators, who have dropped three in a row overall and seven straight against Metropolitan Division representatives. Robin Lehner turned aside 29 shots in falling to 1-4-0 in place of the injured Craig Anderson (hand).

After two scoreless periods, Columbus drew first blood 4:13 into the third as Atkinson's second backhand attempt from the right doorstep beat Lehner. A brilliant individual effort allowed Foligno to double the advantage at 8:51, as he raced around Ottawa defenseman Cody Ceci to claim possession in the neutral zone before slipping a backhander between the pads of Lehner for his team-leading 21st goal.

Condra halved the deficit 91 seconds later, spotting a loose puck around the net before batting it past McElhinney. The Senators pressed for the equalizer, but Hartnell flipped the puck over the reach of Ottawa captain Erik Karlsson and into the empty net with 1:16 remaining and Letestu capped the scoring with 13 seconds left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Foligno was acquired from Ottawa in July 2012 in a deal involving veteran D Marc Methot. ... Columbus' Ryan Murray will miss four-to-six weeks with a high-ankle sprain and fellow D James Wisniewski sat out with a lower-body injury. Cody Goloubef and Dalton Prout replaced Murray and Wisniewski, who were injured in the team's 7-1 victory over St. Louis on Friday. ... Ottawa C Jean-Gabriel Pageau was inserted into the lineup in place of LW Milan Michalek, who was held out due to the flu.
