Bruins 2, Islanders 1: Loui Eriksson scored the tiebreaking goal with 7:34 to play in the third period as host Boston beat New York for the second time in 10 days.
All-Star Patrice Bergeron added a power-play tally to help the Bruins improve to 9-2-1 in their last 12 games. Tuukka Rask, who made a season-high 43 saves in a 5-2 victory over the Islanders on Jan. 29, turned aside 39 shots in his 10th consecutive start.
Captain John Tavares netted the lone goal for New York, which lost for the fourth time in five games - a span during which it has produced only eight goals. Former Bruin Chad Johnson made 34 saves but suffered his first loss at TD Garden (9-1-0).
Tavares gave the Islanders the early lead with his fifth goal in his last eight games. With New York on the power play, Rask kicked out a turnaround shot by Frans Nielsen, but Tavares buried the juicy rebound from the left side just over nine minutes into the contest.
The Bruins tied it four minutes later with a man-advantage tally of their own as Bergeron collected the rebound of his own shot and beat Johnson to the top left corner of the net. Boston forged ahead as Eriksson swept home a rebound in front, backhanding the puck past the goaltender with his back to the net.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Islanders D Calvin de Haan, appearing in his 100th career game, had to exit in the third period when he was cut in the face by a skate. ... Tavares' goal snapped a string of 16 consecutive penalties killed off by the Bruins and was the 160th of his career, tying Patrick Flatley for 13th place on the franchise list. ... Bergeron scored for the third time in four games to move within three of 200 for his career. ... Boston paid a video tribute to the Super Bowl-winning New England Patriots during a pregame ceremony, honoring about a dozen players who donned Bruins jerseys for the ceremonial puck drop. Tight end Rob Gronkowski drew a loud ovation when he spiked a puck at center ice that bounced into the stands.
