Oilers 5, Sharks 4 (SO): Defenseman Justin Schultz forged a tie with 2:37 left in the third period and Rob Klinkhammer ended a marathon shootout in the 13th round as Edmonton posted its third win in four road games.

After San Jose rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the third with three goals in a 7:09 span, Schultz unleashed a shot from the right faceoff circle that deflected off Logan Couture's stick and past Antti Niemi. Both teams converted in the fifth round of the bonus format but were stymied afterward until Klinkhammer used a backhand deke before beating Niemi (36 saves) to the stick side for the winner.

Jordan Eberle registered his third two-goal performance of the season, Derek Roy also scored and Schultz added an assist for the Oilers, who improved to 5-13-7 on the road. Joe Pavelski recorded two goals and an assist, defensemen Scott Hannan and Matt Tennyson also tallied and Joe Thornton collected three assists for the Sharks, who concluded a 4-1-2 homestand.

San Jose opened the scoring during a power play at 11:50 of the first period, when Pavelski redirected Patrick Marleau's pass from the left circle past Viktor Fasth (33 saves) with his right skate. Eberle scored a highlight-reel goal with 1:57 left in the session to forge a tie, toe-dragging the puck around Marleau and deking past All-Star defenseman Brent Burns before putting a backhander past Niemi.

Eberle capped his third two-goal performance of the season 22 seconds into the middle period by burying a rebound in the low slot and Roy made it 3-1 at 9:39, drilling the puck past Niemi from the slot after Nail Yakupov created a turnover. Hannan began the Sharks' comeback by converting a feed from Thornton at 2:19 of the third and Tennyson tied it 90 seconds later with a blast from above the slot before Pavelski beat Fasth from the bottom of the left circle at 9:28 to cap his sixth two-goal effort of the campaign and put San Jose ahead.
