Rangers 6, Panthers 3: All-Star Rick Nash scored twice and defenseman Dan Boyle netted his 150th career goal at 8:10 of the third period to snap a tie as host New York skated to its fifth consecutive victory versus Florida.

Mats Zuccarello scored and set up a goal while Kevin Hayes added his first career power-play tally for the Rangers, who have won 18 of their last 23 and moved past idle Washington and into third place in the Metropolitan Division. Defenseman Marc Staal also scored and Henrik Lundqvist finished with 33 saves to improve to 20-9-1 lifetime against the Panthers.

Dave Bolland collected a goal and an assist while Brandon Pirri tallied for the fourth time in five contests for Florida, which has dropped seven of its last eight games (1-6-1). Aleksander Barkov also scored and Brad Boyes notched a pair of assists in the setback.

With the game tied at 3-3, Boyle stopped a clearing attempt along the left-wing boards and quickly wristed a shot toward net that caromed off the stick of Panthers captain Willie Mitchell and past Roberto Luongo (32 saves) for his sixth goal of the season and second in as many games. Zuccarello cleaned up a rebound with 4:02 left in the third to snap a 10-game goal drought before Nash scored into an empty net for his 31st tally, moving him in into a tie with Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin for the league lead.

Staal's wrist shot from the right faceoff circle deflected off the stick of Florida's Sean Bergenheim before sailing past Luongo at 9:28 of the second period to give New York a 3-1 lead. The Panthers answered quickly as Bolland batted home a loose puck 3 1/2 minutes later before wiring a feed from below the end line that Pirri one-timed past Lundqvist at 15:30 to forge a tie.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Nash scored on a breakaway at 8:49 of the first period to reach the 30-goal plateau for the eighth time in his career. Nash's fourth short-handed tally also tied him with Los Angeles' Tyler Toffoli for the league lead. ... New York LW Carl Hagelin was awarded his first career penalty shot after he was tripped by Florida D Erik Gudbranson with 3:19 remaining in the third. Hagelin was denied by Luongo on his attempt. ... With his team on a power play, Hayes' one-timer from the slot beat Luongo 2:51 into the second period to give New York a 2-1 lead. The Rangers failed on their final two opportunities and are 3-for-26 in the last 10 games.
