Lightning 4, Canucks 1: Alex Killorn capped his first career two-goal performance with a late empty-netter as Tampa Bay posted its franchise record-tying eighth consecutive home triumph.

Valtteri Filppula recorded a goal and set up another while Brian Boyle also tallied for the Lightning, who have a league-high 19 victories at home. Defenseman Victor Hedman notched two assists and Ben Bishop turned aside 27 shots for his 24th win as Tampa Bay thwarted all seven Vancouver power plays.

Blue-liner Frank Corrado scored his first goal of the season and the second of his career in the third period for Vancouver, which finished a 3-2-0 road trip. Ryan Miller, who had allowed a total of one goal in winning the previous three contests, made 22 saves for the Canucks.

Captain Steven Stamkos’ pass from the top of the right faceoff circle was deflected by Vancouver defenseman Dan Hamhuis, and Filppula looped in front to redirect the puck past Miller at 13:32 of the second period to open the scoring. Killorn doubled the lead 11 seconds into the third, beating Miller with a rising shot from just inside the right faceoff dot.

Boyle added some cushion at 4:16 with a one-timer from the left circle that trickled between Miller’s pads and over the goal line for a 3-0 lead. Corrado chipped in a loose puck on a rush at 8:09, but the Canucks failed to convert during a 5-on-3 that lasted 45 seconds and Killorn backhanded a shot into an empty net with 2:26 left to seal the win.
