Alex Steen and Jaden Schwartz also tallied as the Blues beat Edmonton for the 10th time in their last 11 meetings. Jori Lehtera and defenseman Barret Jackman collected a pair of assists apiece while rookie Jake Allen turned aside 13 shots to earn his second straight victory.

Benoit Pouliot notched a pair of third-period goals for the Oilers, who saw their franchise-record road losing streak reach 13 games (0-7-6). Ben Scrivens made 25 saves but remained winless in his last 10 away from home (0-5-5).

Tarasenko scored for the second straight game at 13:49 of the opening period with a turnaround shot that caught the stick of Scrivens and trickled past him. Backes doubled the lead less than three minutes later, deflecting a backhand pass in front from Lehtera past Scrivens for his sixth goal in four contests.

Schwartz scored for the fourth time in five games since returning from a broken foot, redirecting a shot by Jackman from the left point 5 1/2 minutes into the second. Pouliot spoiled Allen's shutout bid during a power play at 8:37 of the third, tipping in defenseman Justin Schultz's shot, but Steen answered with a blast off the faceoff with 3 1/2 minutes remaining for his 400th career point.
