Penguins 2, Canadiens 1 (OT): Captain Sidney Crosby scored during a power play at 3:41 of overtime after being robbed of the winning goal less than a minute earlier as visiting Pittsburgh snapped its brief two-game skid.

Crosby nearly ended the game three minutes into the extra session as his shot from the slot slipped past Carey Price, but Montreal defenseman Alexei Emelin alertly fired the puck into the corner before it slid across the goal line. The Canadiens were called for too many men on the ice moments later, and the Penguins' superstar made no mistake this time, burying a one-timer from the right faceoff circle off a pass by Evgeni Malkin.

Malkin recorded a goal and an assist for Pittsburgh, which avenged a 4-1 home loss to Montreal last Saturday. Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 27 shots as the Penguins won for just the third time in eight games (3-4-1).

Max Pacioretty extended his goal-scoring streak to four games for the Canadiens, who have dropped two in a row. Price finished with 35 saves as Montreal fell to 16-0-1 when scoring first.

Montreal got on the board with 1:50 remaining in the first period as Pacioretty led a 2-on-1 rush down the right wing and unleashed a shot from the faceoff circle that beat Fleury high to the glove side for his team-leading 18th of the season and fifth in six games. The Penguins drew even with 1:32 left in the second as Malkin unleashed a blast from the right point that got past a screened Price.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Crosby's goal was his 17th - and 38th point - in 28 career games against Montreal. ... Malkin has recorded a point in 31 of his 41 contests this season, tying him with Philadelphia teammates Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek for the league lead. ... The 2015 All-Star roster was announced Saturday, with Price selected to represent Montreal. Malkin and Crosby were chosen to play on behalf of Pittsburgh.
