Predators 3, Hurricanes 2: Defenseman Roman Josi capped a three-goal third period by snapping a tie with 4:43 to play as host Nashville extended its point streak to six games.

Blue-liner Ryan Ellis and Mike Fisher also scored as the Predators improved to a league-best 15-2-1 at home and ended a four-game skid at the hands of Carolina. Pekka Rinne turned aside 23 shots to register his league-best 26th victory.

Captain Eric Staal scored his 300th career goal and was matched by defenseman Justin Faulk with a tally and an assist for the Hurricanes, who have been limited to two goals or fewer in 17 of their last 18 games. Cam Ward made 23 saves in falling to 0-4-0 lifetime in Nashville.

Staal opened the scoring during a power play with 2:35 left in the opening period, corralling a loose puck and converting from the right side of the net for his milestone tally. The edge held up until Ellis knotted it 4:43 into the third, finding an opening from behind the end line, but Faulk reclaimed the lead for the Hurricanes with a straight-on blast from the blue line 3 1/2 minutes later.

Fisher netted the equalizer midway through the period, cleaning up the rebound of Colin Wilson's shot from in front. Josi then delivered the game-winner with a blast on a set-up from Viktor Stalberg, who registered a pair of assists.
