Canucks 3, Sharks 1: Jannik Hansen and Radim Vrbata scored four minutes apart in the second period as Vancouver ended its four-game road skid (0-2-2) and snapped San Jose's eight-game home winning streak.

Rookie Bo Horvat also tallied for the Canucks, who emerged victorious despite allowing two penalty shots in the same game for the second time this calendar year. Ryan Miller finished with 31 saves to improve to 9-1-0 in his career versus the Sharks.

Joe Thornton scored on a penalty shot in the second period and Alex Stalock turned aside 18 shots for San Jose, which has dropped three in a row - all to Pacific Division rivals. Joe Pavelski also was granted a penalty shot in the opening session but hit the crossbar on his attempt.

Horvat unleashed a shot that caromed off Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon and into the net 3:08 into the first period to open the scoring. Hansen exited the penalty box and promptly reeled in a feed from blue-liner Alex Edler before lifting a shot past Stalock 3:05 into the second to double the advantage.

Thornton scored on a penalty shot for the second time in exactly five years as he beat Miller high to the stick side at 4:36 to halve the deficit. Vrbata restored Vancouver's two-goal advantage 2 1/2 minutes later as his wrist shot following a cross-ice feed from captain Henrik Sedin glanced off Stalock's glove and into the net.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pavelski was hauled down by Edler on a partial breakaway to received a penalty shot while Thornton was granted his attempt after being tripped by Canucks D Chris Tanev. ... Vancouver also yielded two penalty shots to Montreal's Max Pacioretty on Feb. 6. ... Sharks LW Matt Nieto registered two shots on goal in his first game since Dec. 4. Nieto had been sidelined with an ankle injury following a hit from Boston D Kevan Miller.
