Oilers 3, Kings 2 (SO): David Perron scored the lone goal of the shootout in the fourth round as host Edmonton halted its nine-game losing streak (0-7-2).

After Justin Williams shot high on Los Angeles' fourth attempt, Perron put a backhander past Jonathan Quick to give Todd Nelson his first victory as interim coach of the Oilers. Matt Hendricks and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored in regulation while Ben Scrivens made 37 saves as Edmonton won for just the second time in 22 contests (2-14-6).

Defensemen Drew Doughty and Jake Muzzin tallied for the Kings, who fell to 0-1-1 on their three-game road trip through Western Canada. Quick turned aside 19 shots in his second start in two nights.

Edmonton grabbed an early lead as Hendricks received a pass from the left faceoff circle by newcomer Derek Roy and one-timed it past Quick from the top of the slot 4:37 into the contest. Nugent-Hopkins doubled the advantage 9 1/2 minutes into the second, beating Quick to the stick side from the right circle off a feed from Taylor Hall.

The Kings halved the deficit midway through the third as video review confirmed Doughty's blast from the blue line hit the camera inside the net before caroming back into play. After having its string of five games with a power-play goal halted by Calgary on Monday, Los Angeles cashed in with 2:25 left to tie it as Marian Gaborik made a pass from behind the net to Muzzin, who beat Scrivens short side from the left circle.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Roy was acquired in a trade with Nashville on Monday and recorded one shot while blocking three in 14:53 of ice time in his Edmonton debut. ... RW Matt Fraser also appeared in his first game with the Oilers after being claimed off waivers from Boston on Monday and registered two shots on goal in 13:17. ... Gaborik and C Anze Kopitar each recorded an assist for the Kings after having their respective six- and five-game point streaks halted Monday.
