Predators 3, Blues 2: Captain Shea Weber scored his second goal of the night while short-handed at 9:02 of the third period to snap a tie as Nashville improved to 14-2-1 at home.

Weber, who entered with a 16-game goalless drought, took a cross-slot pass from fellow defenseman Roman Josi during a rush and beat Brian Elliott from the right faceoff circle to put the Predators ahead. Gabriel Bourque netted a tally and set up another, Olli Jokinen notched two assists and Pekka Rinne made 26 saves for Nashville, which is 12-4-1 in its last 17 contests and has yet to lose consecutive games this season.

Blue-liner Chris Butler and T.J. Oshie scored for the Blues, who fell to 1-4-1 in their last six. Captain David Backes recorded two assists and Elliott returned from a lower-body injury that cost him 14 games to turn aside 44 shots.

Weber opened the scoring with 1:55 remaining in the first period, taking a pass from the right side of the crease by Jokinen and beating Elliott to the glove side from the inner edge of the right faceoff circle. The Blues pulled even 50 seconds into the middle session as Backes banked the puck off the left-wing boards after winning a faceoff to set up Butler, who one-timed it past Rinne.

Backes helped give St. Louis a 2-1 lead concluding a series of back-and-forth passes by setting up Oshie alone in front with 5:21 left in the period. The Predators drew even 1:27 later, when Bourque kicked the rebound of Jokinen's shot to his stick and beat Elliott from alone in front just three seconds after rookie Filip Forsberg had the apparent tying goal waved off.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Butler has scored on back-to-back nights after failing to tally in his first 14 games this season. ... Forsberg's shot from the bottom of the left circle hit Elliott's shoulder and bounced in the crease before appearing to land just over the goal line, but the referee waved off the goal and video review was deemed inconclusive. ... Blues D Barret Jackman's hooking minor early in the third period put him over 1,000 career penalty minutes. ... Weber's second goal was the first short-hander scored by Nashville and first allowed by St. Louis this season.
