Blue Jackets 6, Bruins 2: Scott Hartnell scored two goals in his return to the lineup as host Columbus snapped its seven-game losing streak at the hands of Boston.

Defenseman Kevin Connauton recorded a goal and two assists and Matt Calvert added one of each while Nick Foligno and Jeremy Morin also scored as the Blue Jackets halted a four-game skid at home against the Bruins dating to March 2009. Defenseman Jack Johnson and Brandon Dubinsky collected two assists apiece while Curtis McElhinney turned aside 26 shots as Columbus improved to 9-1-1 in its last 11.

Patrice Bergeron and rookie Craig Cunningham supplied the goals for Boston, which was seeking its first three-game winning streak since Nov. 15-21. Niklas Svedberg allowed three goals on 15 shots before being replaced by Tuukka Rask (12 saves) at 6:32 of the second period.

Hartnell, who missed five games with a broken finger, opened the scoring just past the eight-minute mark with a backhander off a juicy rebound, but Bergeron countered 20 seconds later with a wrist shot from the left hash marks. Hartnell put the Blue Jackets ahead to stay with a redirection 51 seconds into the middle session and Connauton ended Svedberg's night 5 1/2 minutes later with a wrister from the left point off a faceoff.

Foligno scored his sixth goal in seven games midway through the period, tapping in a cross-crease feed from Johnson during a power play, but Cunningham's redirection deflected off Johnson and into the net with 3:32 left in the session to cut the deficit to 4-2. Columbus added a goal in the final minute as Calvert gained control along the right-wing boards and beat Rask with a wrister from behind the right hash marks.

GAME NOTEBOOK: With just over two minutes remaining in the second period, a puck hit the spectator netting behind the Columbus goal, but play continued and Calvert converted nearly 1 1/2 minutes later for a three-goal lead. ... Bergeron has recorded a goal and four assists during his three-game point streak. ... McElhinney made his first start since Nov. 29 in place of an ailing Sergei Bobrovsky (illness), while Blue Jackets RW Cam Atkinson (upper body) did not return after taking a hit from Bruins D Matt Bartkowski on his second shift of the game.
