Blue Jackets 3, Blackhawks 2 (SO): Defenseman Jack Johnson scored the decisive goal in the ninth round of the shootout as host Columbus ended its 13-game losing streak (0-10-3) against Chicago.

Jack Skille and blue-liner Kevin Connauton scored in regulation as the Blue Jackets improved to 8-0-1 in their last nine overall while ending their nine-game skid at home versus the Blackhawks. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 39 shots before allowing just one goal on nine attempts in the shootout, clinching the victory by stopping Bryan Bickell in the ninth round.

Patrick Sharp and Ben Smith each netted a goal for Chicago, which lost for only the third time in 16 games (13-2-1) and suffered its first defeat at Columbus since March 25, 2010. Corey Crawford made 17 saves in his return to the lineup after missing eight games with a lower-body injury.

Despite being outshot 15-3 in the opening 20 minutes, Columbus seized a 1-0 lead on Skille's redirection of Ryan Johansen's shot with 2:36 to play in the period. Sharp tied it 7 1/2 minutes into the second on a 2-on-1 rush, unleashing a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle that beat Bobrovsky high to the glove side.

Columbus regained the lead 1:55 into the third as Connauton scored from nearly the same spot as Sharp with one second left on a power play, but Chicago got the equalizer on a goal that initially was waved off. Marcus Kruger slid skates-first into the crease, but the puck caromed off the stick of Smith before crossing the line and the call was overturned upon video review.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Sharp scored his 27th goal in 47 games against Columbus, his highest total versus any opponent. ...
