Panthers 2, Flyers 1 (SO): Dave Bolland scored the decisive goal in the sixth round of the shootout as visiting Florida improved to 5-1-2 in its last eight games.
Roberto Luongo denied veteran defenseman Mark Streit from point-blank range in overtime to set up another shootout for the Panthers, who went an NHL-record 20 rounds before upending Washington on Tuesday. Brandon Pirri scored in the first round and Jakub Voracek answered for Philadelphia in the third before Bolland's wrist shot beat Steve Mason and Luongo denied Sean Couturier to send the Flyers to their 10th consecutive shootout loss - and fifth this season.
Luongo finished with 25 saves to tie Mike Vernon for 12th place on the all-time list with his 385th career victory. Former Flyer Scottie Upshall scored while Tomas Kopecky and defenseman Dylan Olsen each notched an assist for the Panthers, who have played in an NHL-high 22 one-goal games (12-2-8).
Voracek scored his third goal in four contests to pull into a tie with Dallas' Tyler Seguin and Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin with his 38th point and Mason turned aside 31 shots for the Flyers, who have earned at least one point in six of their last seven contests (3-1-3). Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and defenseman Nicklas Grossmann each recorded an assist.
Upshall gained inside position on Philadelphia defenseman Nick Schultz in front and tapped the puck inside the right post midway into the first period to open the scoring. Voracek answered 4:07 into the second by burying a centering feed from Bellemare for his 12th goal of the season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Philadelphia captain Claude Giroux was held off the scoresheet, ending his assist and point streaks at four and six games, respectively. ... Flyers C Vincent Lecavalier was held without a shot as he returned to the lineup after seven straight games as a healthy scratch. ...
