Predators 3, Bruins 2 (SO): Derek Roy scored the lone shootout goal and Pekka Rinne made 33 saves en route to his league-leading 20th victory as host Nashville posted its 13th win in 18 games.
Roy tucked the puck inside the right post in the first round to give Nashville the edge. Rinne made it stand by making pad saves on both Brad Marchand and Reilly Smith before Patrice Bergeron's bid sailed over the net to end the contest.
Rinne also stopped Milan Lucic on a partial breakaway late in overtime before Tuukka Rask thwarted a 2-on-1 rush at the other end. Mike Fisher scored a rare power-play goal and Mike Ribeiro also tallied for the Predators, who have yet to suffer back-to-back losses this season.
Lucic and Smith scored in regulation for the Bruins, who have dropped three in a row and eight of their last 10 (2-5-3). Rask turned aside 38 shots in the loss.
Boston kept the pressure on despite Nashville killing off Roy's two-minute penalty for hooking, resulting in Lucic slapping a loose puck from in close past Rinne at 4:04 of the second period to draw first blood. Fisher deflected captain Shea Weber's shot with 30 seconds remaining in the session and Riberio's blast from the right faceoff circle 91 seconds into the third gave Nashville a 2-1 lead, but Smith tucked the puck past Rinne at 3:28 of the session to forge a tie.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Nashville, which entered the contest with just one power-play goal in its previous 35 opportunities, went 1-for-4 and improved to 2-for-48 at home. ... Boston failed on all three attempts with the man advantage to drop to 1-for-24 in its last 13 contests. ... Predators D Anton Volchenkov suffered a lower-body injury in the first period and did not return.
