Sabres 4, Panthers 3 (OT): Defenseman Nikita Zadorov scored 29 seconds into overtime as Buffalo recorded its fifth straight victory at home.

Tyler Ennis skated inside the right faceoff circle and sized up his options before pushing the puck across to a pinching Zadorov, who wired a one-timer from the left circle past Al Montoya for his first goal of the season. The one-goal victory was the 11th in the last 13 meetings between the Atlantic Division rivals.

Marcus Foligno scored for the second straight contest following a 19-game goalless drought while captain Brian Gionta and Cody Hodgson also tallied for Buffalo, which has won three in a row overall and nine of 12. Zadorov added an assist and Jhonas Enroth finished with 25 saves to improve to 8-2-0 in his last 10 appearances.

Sean Bergenheim scored early in the second period and set up Jimmy Hayes' tally nearly four minutes later for the Panthers, who saw their five-game winning streak versus Buffalo come to a halt. Jussi Jokinen also tallied, former Sabre Brad Boyes notched an assist and Montoya turned aside 28 shots in the loss.

After Buffalo seized a 2-0 lead in the first period, Bergenheim trimmed the deficit 1:08 into the second as his centering feed caromed off the skate of Zadorov and into the net before Hayes scored from the left doorstep at 4:51. Dave Bolland stripped Torrey Mitchell of the puck and fed Jokinen for the conversion 57 seconds into the third before Gionta accepted a stretch pass from defenseman Tyler Myers and scored on a breakaway 7 1/2 minutes later to forge a tie.
