Panthers 4: Red Wings 3: Vincent Trocheck collected a goal and two assists and Roberto Luongo made 38 saves in his return from injury as visiting Florida skated to its third win in four games.

Jimmy Hayes scored and set up a goal while rookie defenseman Aaron Ekblad tallied for the second straight contest for the Panthers, who posted just their third victory in their last nine road games (3-3-3). Sean Bergenheim also scored and Brad Boyes notched an assist for the third straight contest.

Pavel Datsyuk netted his fifth goal in four games and assisted on Tomas Tatar's power-play tally for the Red Wings, who saw their four-game winning streak come to a halt. Gustav Nyquist scored with Jimmy Howard (27 saves) pulled for an extra attacker at 19:01 of the third period, but Detroit was unable to net the equalizer.

Bergenheim got just enough on his shot to cap a pretty tic-tac-toe passing sequence involving Jussi Jokinen and Boyes with 7:39 remaining in the second period to stake Florida to a 2-1 lead. Trocheck tucked the puck past the outstretched pad of Howard 27 seconds into the third to double the advantage before Ekblad scored at the eight-minute mark.

With Florida captain Willie Mitchell serving high-sticking and roughing penalties, Tatar deflected Datsyuk's shot from the right faceoff circle past Luongo 6:47 into the first to open the scoring. The Panthers responded as Trocheck's shot produced a rebound in the lower right circle for Hayes, who chipped the puck over Howard's glove with 4:49 remaining in the period to forge a tie.
