Canucks 4, Capitals 3: Daniel Sedin snapped a seven-game goal drought with a pair of power-play tallies to lift visiting Vancouver over Washington.
Sedin added an assist, Radim Vrbata scored a goal and set up another and Derek Dorsett also tallied for the Canucks, who became the first team in the league to record 10 wins on the road this season. Ryan Miller made 22 saves en route to his fifth victory in six starts.
Defenseman John Carlson scored twice and assisted on Brooks Laich’s goal for the Capitals, who lost to Vancouver for the 11th time in 13 meetings. Braden Holtby stopped 28 shots.
Sedin snapped a 1-1 tie by knocking home a centering feed 10:01 into the second period. He broke another deadlock at 9:39 of the third, blasting a shot from the left faceoff circle over Holtby’s glove for his sixth of the season.
Dorsett opened the scoring with 2:02 remaining in the first period, but Carlson responded 2:45 into the second. Vrbata added a power-play goal 2:46 after Sedin’s first tally to make it 3-1 and Carlson scored his second of the contest 1:56 later before Laich forged a tie 4:39 into the third.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Washington D Mike Green missed his fourth straight game with an upper-body injury. … The Canucks went 3-for-4 on the power play while the Capitals failed to convert their only opportunity. … Vancouver is 5-0-0 against Metropolitan Division opponents.
