Blues 2, Ducks 0: Jake Allen made 24 saves en route to his second career shutout while Alex Steen and Ryan Reaves scored as host St. Louis posted its third straight victory.

Maxim Lapierre and defensemen Carl Gunnarsson and Kevin Shattenkirk each recorded an assist for the Blues, who defeated Anaheim in regulation for the first time in nine meetings. Allen did the majority of his work in the first period, turning aside 13 shots, as he improved to 11-5-0 in the NHL.

John Gibson finished with 27 saves for the Ducks, who had their four-game point streak at St. Louis (3-0-1) snapped. The Ducks, who are 1-1-0 on their four-game road trip, have scored a total of two goals in their last three overall contests and one thus far on their trek.

St. Louis gave Allen all the offensive support he needed 4 1/2 minutes into the contest. Gunnarsson unleashed a shot from the left point that deflected off Steen in front and past Gibson for his second goal of the season.

After a scoreless middle session, Reaves doubled the lead 2:03 into the third. Lapierre pounced on a loose puck in the right faceoff circle after Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler fanned on a pass attempt and dished it to Reaves, who beat Gibson high to the glove side from the top of the slot.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Blues were without three forwards as C David Backes and RW T.J. Oshie suffered concussions in Tuesday's overtime victory at Dallas while RW Joakim Lindstrom sat out with a bacterial infection. ... The three-game season series is even at one win apiece, with each team posting a shutout at home.
