Blackhawks 5, Senators 4 (SO): Patrick Sharp scored the lone goal of the shootout in the third round as visiting Chicago beat Ottawa for the second time in five days.

Captain Jonathan Toews scored twice and Marian Hossa recorded a goal and an assist to reach 1,000 points in his career as the Blackhawks rebounded from a 1-0 loss to Anaheim on Tuesday. Kris Versteeg matched Hossa with a tally and an assist while rookie Scott Darling made 28 saves and denied all three attempts in the bonus format in his third straight start.

Mika Zibanejad forced overtime by scoring with 2:08 remaining in regulation while Mark Stone, Clarke MacArthur and Bobby Ryan also tallied for the Senators, who suffered their third one-goal setback in four games. Craig Anderson made 35 saves in the loss.

With the score tied at 2-2 after two periods, Ottawa went ahead 30 seconds into the third as a giveaway by Bryan Bickell led to a one-timer by Ryan, but Toews knotted it seven minutes later, spinning off a defender and slipping behind Anderson to slide in a rebound. Hossa put Chicago ahead at 13:50, coming from behind the net and sweeping the puck past Anderson, but Zibanejad pulled the Senators even by converting from the slot four minutes later

Stone scored on a give-and-go with Curtis Lazar 2:48 into the game, redirecting the return pass between the pads of Darling, but Toews got a stick on Hossa's wrister at 11:25 and Versteeg scored just over four minutes later on a brilliant individual effort for a 2-1 lead after one period. MacArthur netted the lone tally of the middle session during a power play, moving in from the end line and stuffing the puck past Darling at 2:51.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hossa, a first-round pick of the Senators in 1997 who was competing in his 1,100th game, became the 80th player to score 1,000 points and only the fourth to reach the milestone against his original team. ... Zibanejad, who registered 33 points in 69 games last season, recorded his first of the season with his goal. ... Blackhawks G Corey Crawford (upper body), who sat out the previous five games, served as the backup to Darling.
