Bruins 3, Sabres 2 (OT): Brad Marchand scored his second goal of the contest 1:20 into overtime as visiting Boston defeated Buffalo for the second time this season.

The Bruins controlled possession of the puck for the majority of overtime before Reilly Smith set up an unmarked Marchand in the slot. The pesky Nova Scotia native one-timed a blast past Jhonas Enroth (34 saves) for his third goal of the season.

Marchand deflected Loui Eriksson's shot from the right faceoff circle past Enroth with 5 1/2 minutes remaining in the third period to forge a 2-2 tie and also set up defenseman Adam McQuaid's first goal in over a calendar year. Niklas Svedberg turned aside 13 shots for Boston, which also posted a 4-0 victory over the Sabres on Oct. 18 to highlight its 4-2-0 stretch over its last six games.

Drew Stafford celebrated his 29th birthday by scoring Buffalo's first power-play goal on its 34th opportunity of the season. Tyler Ennis joined Stafford with a goal and an assist for the Sabres, who have been outscored 16-4 while dropping all five games (0-4-1) at home in 2014-15.

After being held scoreless in 17 of its previous 19 periods, Buffalo drew first blood 5:12 into the second as Stafford deposited Ennis' cross-slot feed past Svedberg for his first goal of the season. Boston answered nearly 6 1/2 minutes later as McQuaid's shot from the slot caromed off Sabres defenseman Mike Weber and into the net before Ennis converted a 2-on-1 rush with Torrey Mitchell with 3:35 remaining in the session for his team-leading fourth goal.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Eriksson and D Dennis Seidenberg each notched an assist on Marchand's tally, giving the former his 400th career point and the latter his 200th. ... Bruins C David Krejci saw his seven-game point streak come to an end. He collected three goals and six assists during that stretch. ... Boston's Joe Morrow made his NHL debut after being recalled along with fellow D David Warsofsky from Providence of the American Hockey League on Wednesday.
